Thomas Ming-Hui Stanka is a postgraduate student in Art History with a passion for photography history and theory. Currently Thomas is studying the master program ‘Art History in a Global Context‘ at Freie Universität Berlin. Over the past three years he has been working on several exhibitions and projects as curator, coordinator or social media and content manager.
Thomas‘ holistic approach includes practical knowledge & skills aswell as academic education. This path lead him to different places and institutions to work and learn. Since 2019 he is a working student for the auction house Grisebach. There he interned in the photography department for the preperation of the auction of the private photography collection of Stefan Thull in summer 2021. In an internship in autumn 2019 Thomas had the chance to work in the Hein Gorny Archive in the Collection Regard, where he supported the Archive with the digitalization of negatives and contact prints. Thomas‘ Ma. thesis will deal with Aleksandr Rodchenko’s photography and the question: „What characterizes the idea of the modern/constructivist photographer and how is that linked to the camera as a tool of technology?“
