The city of Chongqing is my father’s hometown. Since he left China in the early 80s, the city and the country changed fundamentally, partially beyond recognition.
Being half German and half Chinese, visiting Chongqing and my relatives there has always been a confrontation with my own identity. The following pictures illustrate the search for a past I never experienced myself. In this attempt I construct a visual narrative of nostalgia in a broader sense. Nostalgia is always looking back to find a better past to contrast the present. The stories of my father depict a simpler but happier time, a home that is distant in time and only reachable for the mind.
Schöne Bilder, einfach direkt aus dem Leben! Ich drücke dir die Daumen, dass du bald noch mehr authentische Momente aus Chongqing fangen kannst.
